Sintra
Enchanted forests, romantic palaces and dramatic cliffs where the land ends and the Atlantic begins. Sintra has captivated poets, kings and travellers for centuries β and now it is your turn.
A Kingdom of
Palaces
Just 30 kilometres from Lisbon lies one of Europe's most magical destinations β a UNESCO World Heritage landscape where 19th-century Romanticist palaces rise above misty pine forests, and ancient cliffs fall into the cold Atlantic. Sintra is unlike anywhere else in the world.
On this private full-day tour your guide Nikolai β licensed under RNAAT nΒ° 512/2025 β takes you through the highlights at your own pace. No queuing for buses, no waiting for strangers. Just you, your group, and the real Sintra.
Your Day
in Sintra
Pena Palace
Rising above the clouds on a hilltop in the Sintra Mountains, Pena Palace is Portugal's most iconic landmark. This 19th-century Romanticist masterpiece erupts in vivid reds, yellows and ocean blues. Explore the lavish royal apartments, walk the ramparts, and drink in breathtaking views stretching all the way to the Atlantic. Book entrance tickets in advance during high season β it is worth every minute of the queue.
Quinta da Regaleira
Descend into mystery at this Gothic Revival estate. The centrepiece is the legendary Initiation Well β a 27-metre spiral staircase that plunges underground, built with Masonic and Templar symbolism in mind. Wander through secret tunnels, grottos and lush gardens that feel like stepping inside a fantasy novel. One of the most photographed places in all of Portugal.
Cabo da Roca β Edge of Europe
Stand at the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Cabo da Roca is a windswept cliff 140 metres above the crashing Atlantic β the place where, as the Portuguese poet CamΓ΅es wrote, "the land ends and the sea begins." Breathe in the ocean air, take the photographs, and collect a certificate to prove you reached the end of the world.
Praia do Guincho
A short drive from Cabo da Roca brings you to one of Portugal's most spectacular wild beaches β a vast arc of golden sand battered by Atlantic waves and framed by rolling dunes. A Blue Flag beach, a surfer's paradise, and the perfect place to pause and feel the scale of the ocean.
Boca do Inferno & Cascais
The day ends at Boca do Inferno β the "Mouth of Hell" β a dramatic sea arch carved into the cliffs by centuries of Atlantic waves. Then into Cascais itself: once the summer retreat of Portuguese royalty, today a charming coastal town of cobbled streets, seafood restaurants, sandy beaches and boutique shops. The ideal place for a relaxed lunch before the drive back to Lisbon.
Upgrade to the Premium experience and add two extraordinary stops that most visitors never see:
